Essential Information for Your Everest Base Camp Trek

Flight From Manthali Airport

Due to heavy traffic at Kathmandu airport, your flights to Everest will now depart from Ramchhap airport. It’s about 127 km from Kathmandu, and the drive takes around 3 to 4 hours, so plan your travel accordingly. Direct flights are available only during the low season months: January, February, June, July, August, early September, and December. If traveling during the busy season, you must drive to Ramchhap.

Morning Flights Only

Flights to Everest are only scheduled in the morning. Flying later in the day is too risky due to high winds in the afternoon.

Be Ready for Flight Delays

The weather in the Himalayas can be unpredictable, leading to flight delays or cancellations. To avoid potential issues, including a 2—to 3-day buffer before your international flight is a good idea.

Helicopter Transfer Option

If you’d rather skip the drive to Ramchhap, you can take a helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. An additional cost will be charged.

Porter Weight Limits
